I have the TV and VCR, finally, and the articles of furniture in the living room have been arranged such that they form a nice little enclave around the television. Watched “Rush Hour 2” last night with my dad… Good, mindless entertainment.<\/p>\n

I think this has been the single most productive day I’ve had at work. I finished the lower galley, sent it to Ray to get nested, designed a nightstand for the starboard side stateroom, sent that to Ray, and got dimensions from the assembly line for the side window redesign. The 44 nears completion… At least until next week, right? :oP<\/p>\n
The shadows were getting a bit long coming in the giant doors of the assembly building. The structure is cavernous inside in order to accomadate the decks as they come down on the hulls from above. I was inside one of the 44 decks, taking measurements, and “Where the Streets Have No Name” came on the boombox the assembly workers use. The first chords echoed throughout the building, filling the space. It made me pause for a bit, just to listen to the music over the industrial noises, the saws, the drills, the air tools… It was a bit of mid-afternoon serenity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
