It rained last night, so wetness covered the cars this morning–except on my machine, safe under its car cover. It’s a losing battle… I need to come to terms with this. No matter how obsessively I maintain it, it’s going to get t-boned by some riced-out Civic with a hang-glider strapped to the trunk or it’s going to throw a piston through the hood, or something. It’s just a possession.

I want to bring our telescope down here. It’s never used at home, and in spite of the fact that it’s nearly always in the corner of the front room, out of the way, it seems to take a surprising amount of abuse. It’s been a while since I’ve been stargazing. I’ve probably forgotten who half the constellations are now; they used to be so familiar to me. The night skies here are such a perfect amalgam of atmospheres–the bright city sky to the west where civilization is more concentrated–heck, present, the sky to the east is deeply dark over the ocean. The lights of the west are low on the horizon, giving the globe of the sky an eerie, bottom-lit aura. The stars are bright, and even successfully invade the western light. Thin lavender wisps of clouds trail off in the evening, and the sea breeze picks up. The air is cool, but still humid and full of life, as the salt plays havoc with the curls of your hair. Yes, I will go out tonight a greet friends long neglected.

I wanna be in the light as You are in the light Warm day.
