Still here. Tried to start a post last night but it fizzled. Something about the keys clicking away in the darkness, Diane already in bed, made me a tad self-conscious, hardly a mood condusive to writing.<\/p>\n

Eventful and uneventful couple of weeks. Luke’s been learning a lot the hard way lately. He accidentally spatula’ed some piping hot pumpkin pie onto his foot last weekend, and last Friday ingested an undetermined but large enough amount of children’s Robutussin to cause mild alarm and precipitate a short trip to the hospital. But he shrugs it all off–the medicine didn’t even cause any discernable effects. He is more responsive every day as his world expands at a rapid pace, and he thinks well-nigh visibly, working things out. He has mastered phonics and with a little coaching can work out most words on his own. He certainly understands the principle behind the endeavor and it excites him to be able to figure things out. If only he were as excited about being potty-trained… Sigh.<\/p>\n

Still here at ImageWorks. As I mentioned in a previous post, they decided to extend my contract by another three months. Less than ideal, but it’s a steady (and good) job in the meantime. Still trolling for permanency, and I have a good chance of an interview for a position here<\/a>. It’s a longer commute and less design-y, but if nothing else if they make me an offer I can leverage that with ImageWorks in hopes of a counteroffer. I don’t like to have to do that–companies should know themselves well enough to know whether or not they need help–but I have little recourse and a fair amount of urgency. But we’re well.<\/p>\n

Some days it’s difficult to bear in mind a longer-range view of life. Espicially with a child (and another on the way), as Diane says, life is very daily<\/i> and, dreamer and closet visionary that I am, the encroaching myopia can be hard to clear. Having married a fellow dreamer helps, though–she won’t immediately dismiss my musings amid the tide of the day-to-day, but dreams with me. Indeed, when married not only is it the only<\/i> way to dream (together), but I don’t want to keep these things to myself. I want to share them with her, and doing so emphasizes our unity and closeness and by association the design and care God has vested in marriage. Bottom up theology? No–we wouldn’t have an idea of intimacy or community if He had not placed it in us as a reflection of His own character.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
