One of the guys from Hunter (the sailboat division of the company) came over here to Luhrs, and I accompanied him to check out a 30-footer prototype that had just been completed and was sitting just inside the big warehouse. While there, Mr. Warren Luhrs (the owner of the whole kit and caboodle), who lives up in New Jersey or some such place, dropped by, as he is prone to do, to check out the boat with some other bigwigs. I met him; he seemed very personable and actually remembered my name at the end, something by which I was very impressed. The bigshots and I spent a good two hours in the cabin of the prototype discussing minor tweaks and alterations in preparation for the annual Miami boat show. I didn’t say much, but offered my opinion a couple of times, and (I believe) was met with general approval. It was a confidence-booster and helped me learn a lot about what’s involved in production, just being there and talking about various aspects of the boat. ‘Twas cool.<\/p>\n
My search for a relatively inexpensive, decent apartment has been unfruitful lately. There’s a good chance I might get the one the romantic side of me really wants to get but the practical side has minor reservations about. It’s not terribly cheap, but I did budget for it, and if I found a roommate, things would be ideal. It’s a two-bedroom, one and a half bath that’s about two blocks from the beach.
