Our third annual local sibling tacky Christmas party was earlier tonight. For those of you connected with us on Facebook, I’m sure you’ll see pictures in the next couple of days. It was a lot of fun. Somehow Diane escaped middle and high school in the early\/mid ’90s without having played Scattergories, so we bought a copy of the game and indulged. She enjoyed.<\/p>\n

Parental thought of the evening: I’m happy just to have anyone<\/i> over for the evening. With that thought come two clarifications:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Our guests for the party were not simply “anyone,” but people whose company we enjoy and cherish greatly, and<\/li>\n
  2. As a family, we’re not “holed up” and desperate for company.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    That said, I do find myself less selective–in a good way–than I was when I was single. You know the feeling: Not going to certain parties because you didn’t “feel like it,” or having to make the hard choice about which group of friends to hang out with on a given weekend. Well… The constraints on time, schedule and flexibility brought on by marriage and parenthood make one grateful for anyone who has the agility to shoehorn themselves into our<\/i> schedule.
