I think part of my reservations have to do with the way we&#8217;re brought up on music nowadays; we demand that music give us a gut feeling or speak in a more forthright manner about issues which concern us or that we&#8217;re concerned about.  Classical music, for me, has always been the &#8220;faceless&#8221; music, partly by virtue of the fact that it doesn&#8217;t have any lyrics (unless you count opera, which I haven&#8217;t built up a tolerance for yet), and partly because classical music seems to speak softly in a language I don&#8217;t fully understand.
