The grey, hesitant daylight overhead releases a smattering of droplets every few minutes, just enough to darken the asphalt and cause the windshield wipers to streak as I drive home.  All the elements outside are in balance&#8211;the light, the rain and the wind&#8211;all three circle, hands linked, around my senses (like the Matisse painting), not one of them overpowering any other.<\/p>\n<p>Leaving for Charlotte in a few hours with Diane for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetruthproject.org\/\">Truth Project<\/a> conference, something we&#8217;ve been planning for several months and that I&#8217;m very much looking forward to.  I haven&#8217;t spent much time with Luke this week and I feel it.  I would spend tomorrow afternoon with him, after the conference, but my brother is holding his birthday festivities that evening back in Chapel Hill.  He&#8217;s leaving for Washington state to intern with Boeing for a few months, embarking on an all-expenses-paid cross-country road trip next Wednesday, so his party, normally held nearer his actual birthday on the 13th, has been bumped up to this weekend.  We&#8217;ll see.  Perhaps I can still work something out.<\/p>\n<p>I really, really want to see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/trailers\/lions_gate\/leonardcohenimyourman\/\">this film<\/a>.
