It’s beyond beautiful today. It really is March, right?<\/p>\n
Dual flight this morning, of the same nature as the one a few Fridays ago, i.e. reviewing everything, analyzing what’s good and what needs more work. By God’s grace today’s flight went much better than the previous. In my instructor’s words, I’m “very, very close.” About the only thing I’ll really emphasize during my solo flight on Friday will be my soft field landings–the one I did today was a clunker (and we practiced another). But everything else was on the money. Encouraging.<\/p>\n
Bret officially confirmed today that they’re interested in keeping me around beyond the scope of the project I was hired to do. As he put it, “Everybody thinks you’re a good fit.” Maybe this means they’ll give me a key to the building? I finally got a company e-mail address a few weeks ago. In any case, it raises questions about what I will be doing this fall. The plan as it stands is to quit the job and do A&P (airframe & powerplant) school for a year. The course of study monopolizes the whole day–it’s essentially the same as having a full-time job except that I’m paying for it. However, I’m not locked in. If I don’t take A&P at MAI this fall there’s a local community college that offers the training, albeit not as compressed into a year (but of the same quality). I’d really like to keep the job here–it pays well, I enjoy the work and my coworkers. But whatever He wills. If I do A&P in the fall it may take me a month or two, but I’ll find a job afterward; I know that. Loose hands.<\/p>\n
Bret, Troy and I went to Panera for lunch. We should’ve eaten outside. I had a “chocolate pastry” (read: pain-au-chocolat<\/i>) for dessert… It brought back memories in droves. On almost every family vacation we took in Europe, those were breakfast for me if we could find a boulangerie.<\/p>\n
