What a confidence-booster. I flew today for a little over an hour and found that I had hardly forgotten anything since the last time I was up in the air, a month ago. My instructor, Mr. Parrish, is a little chattier than Mr. Hahn was, but that’s not a bad thing at all since a chatty instructor is usually a relaxed instructor, and when they’re relaxed it’s usually a sign that all is well. We flew around the practice area for a bit, did a couple of stalls, ground reference maneuvers and he pulled the engine on me. I did everything to his satisfaction. He said that if it had been my private pilot checkride the examiner would have been on the fence about whether to pass me, a good sign considering I have several months of practice before that occurs. In short, it felt great.<\/p>\n
My first cross-country (XC) flight will be Wednesday morning. We’ll fly down to Anson County<\/a> airport (just north of the SC border), up and around Charlotte airspace to Hickory<\/a>, and then back to Sugar Valley<\/a>. Rick’s flight block with Mr. Parrish is immediately after mine, so the days when Rick flies his XC I’ll be doing solo work (the XC takes essentially the whole morning).
