Finally got the word today. Mr. Parrish (incidentally my academic advisor) will be my flight instructor for Flight II. My flight blocks will be MWF at 8 a.m., when the winds should be nice and calm and we’ll have the whole morning for cross-country flights, which make up the bulk of this semester. I’m really looking forward to getting back in the air. Something tells me the first time back will have to be mostly a review session, seeing as how I don’t know how much I remember from a month ago. I’ll do some chair flying before the first session on Friday morning (read: sit on the edge of the bed and gesture toward imaginary controls whilst making airplane noises).<\/p>\n
There’s something of a baby boom at my place of business. John’s wife is about to have a boy, Bret just learned that his wife is expecting their fourth and Annette is almost due. They and Jeanette (who is childless but with her husband is considering having a baby or adopting) must have talked for an hour and a half in the common area right next to my desk. Children are evidently a big, big common interest when one approaches that age and life situation. I didn’t say much, but just listened while working on a part drawing. At one point Annette did say something to the effect of, “What about you, Matt?” with a smile, to which I responded, “Well, there’s really no interesting answer to that question…” Heh.
