My mental backlog of “stuff to post to LJ” has reached capacity, so… another post.<\/p>\n

1. David, check this<\/a> out. Fascinating technological possibilities and potential stifled by political shortsightedness. Simultaneously compelling and depressing. But just imagine… 0.1c<\/i> (traveling the distance from the Earth to the Moon in 13 seconds) with off-the-shelf technology, round-trip to Pluto inside of a year, among other things. Just…wow.<\/p>\n

2. Andreas’ birthday today, which of course means… more food. Went to the Blue Oyster Bar in Kernersville for lunch. Had a barbeque salmon sandwich with a glass of nice chardonnay and a “Fairytale Brownie” for dessert. Karl’s treat. And I thought I’d have to pack lunches more frequently since I work farther away from home…<\/p>\n

3. Modeled multiple configurations of a trash bin today for Ming who’s going back to China tomorrow to visit family and to get quotes from possible suppliers. It’s my best model yet, defining a complex shape in only about half a dozen features with fully-defined geometry that updates dimensions very cleanly between configurations. It’s a far cry from the old model, which was spaghettified and required 20-30 features to achieve the same result.<\/p>\n

4. Got an email over the weekend from the head of this company<\/a>. I made a contact in my church’s small group (Kurt) who works there and he passed my resume on up. They need some freelance help, so we’re having lunch next week to talk things over… I honestly don’t know what to do. Between the job here at PMI, work that they have for me to do at home after hours (instruction sheets in InDesign), this new possibility and school starting back up in a couple of weeks, I’m going to have to make some hard choices about what stays on my schedule.
