I just wanted a quiet evening last night… Rented The Grifters since I was in a John Cusack mood (not to mention the fact that I hadn’t seen the movie before). But practically the whole youth group leadership team shows up within a few minutes of my arriving home. Not that I don’t enjoy having people over at the apartment, but, well, it was Sunday night. We played cards and talked; I had a good time, but immediately after they left, I announced, perhaps a bit too forcefully, “I am now going to lie on the floor in front of stereo and listen to Jeff Buckley turned up loud without any interruptions,” to which Donald and John responded, in so many words, “O-kay…” But it was nice to have my few minutes.

side note: Nobody seems to like that cd (Jeff Buckley’s Grace, purchased last Friday). I think it’s absolutely brilliant, but whenever I put it on, I invariably get that question, “What are we listening to?” with the tone of, “Can we put on something else?” It’s weird.

Oat bran pitas don’t toast quite as well as whole wheat or plain pitas for some reason. They don’t maintain their pliability as they toast, something which is essential for easy spreading afterwards, but instead they become hard and crispy, which also makes eating them in the car on the way to work all the more challenging. Oat bran pitas do, on the other hand, retain heat well when microwaved in preparation for a pita-bread-and-hummus-snack, which is desirable, so it’s conflicting. Ah well. I think the other thing I’ve established is there’s no such thing as a perfect pita.
