I’m going to complain for just a minute.
I am ridiculously tired. My body, especially my forearms, my back, and my legs, but to a significant degree the rest of me as well, is sore this morning. Michael and I worked for about nine hours solid, with only a small 20 minute break for food, on his car, reinstalling the engine and hooking up all the peripherals. I don’t know why I do it. It goes beyond enjoyment, not in the good sense, but in the sense that it’s something besides enjoyment and having fun. By the six or seventh hour, wrenching on the exhaust bolts underneath the car, I think it was just the drive to push through it, to finish the task, to ready the engine to start again, that kept me (us?) going.
I did not get enough sleep last night. I haven’t gotten enough sleep in as long as I can remember. I think part of it is that it’s just so easy to stay up that extra half hour, which turns into that extra hour, etc etc… I just hate waking up every morning thinking, “Should I call and tell them I’ll be late this morning so I can get that extra hour or two of sleep?” It’s a perennial thought.
I’ll be better soon. Right now I’m sore and tired and it’s a sleepy misty morning, and the fact that I’ve put that extra blanket on the bed so I wouldn’t be so cold at nights makes the thought of sleep exceedingly appealing.
Gotta push through.
