It’s been a long time since I’ve been aware of the clear beauty of the morning. Elementary school, actually, was the last time I remember looking around me at the drippy, piercing sunbeams cutting through the trees, and the hearing the sharp symphony of the birds. Today I just sat on my bed, awake, and breathed in the morning air. I wish there were birds’ nests outside my window, but palm trees aren’t the most condusive to nest-building, I suppose. I’m looking forward to daylight savings time and having the sunrise begin an hour earlier, so I’ll get to see it on my way to work, at least for a little while, like I did when I first started back in February. I’m more aware of the seasons now, even in this practically season-less place, because of the changing time of the sunrise. The months pass and there’s progressively more light when I wake up in the mornings.
And suddenly a certain George Harrison song from Abbey Road pops into my head…
