Good weekend. Diane made me a list of things to do yesterday. I love that she does this. I’m blessed that she’s considerate of my capacity to accomplish things during a given day and “lists” accordingly, so that I actually have some chance of getting them done. And yesterday, I did, along with a few things that weren’t on the list, like raking the front yard.
It was the first of what will be many rakes of the season and with Luke’s “help” managed to do most of the front yard in one session. He helped me rake last year but didn’t really know how to enjoy it; this year he was completely into it, trying to work his little rake (“one hand up high, one hand in the middle”) before giving up and jumping into the leaf pile, lying in it and looking through the oak tree’s branches. It was a lot of fun.
Penelope is definitely settling down. Her daily routine helps a lot. She has a set bedtime and Diane is so good with tending to her needs and providing all the love and nurturing she requires. She actually seemed to enjoy her bath last night for the first time, and we think she had one of her first social smiles yesterday. Still waiting for a definite one… She is a delight and a joy to her parents.
