Sloughs, boughs and draughts
The graphic design side project is still getting off the ground on account of software issues. I just haven’t yet gotten a Mac-compatible copy of Dreamweaver (to put together the website) nor an older version of Photoshop. Everything else I have. After that the plan is to buy another domain name and use the webspace I already have to host the site, put together a price structure and a mini portfolio, research local printers and their quoting procedures, print business cards and go at it. I’m actually excited about this.
Halloween was a lot of fun. We went to a local church for a “trunk-or-treat,” essentially several rows of cars lined up, trunks open, with different themes and dioramas inside. Some had “Noah’s Ark” themes, with collections of stuffed animals, there was a “Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord” theme with musical instruments, a “Fishers of Men” theme with actual goldfish and a fishing rod, and all manner of ideas in between. The creativity on display was very fun to see. Luke almost filled his plastic pumpkin with candy, Penelope slept almost the whole time and was duly cute. Luke had a little cold, which slowed him down somewhat, and combined with the crowds of people, noise and candy made him more than a little overwhelmed by the proceedings. But he did well. We’re so grateful for Diane’s family too, who came and participated and helped out too. There are few other groups in whose company we feel as wanted and appreciated (my parents, for one). They are invaluable and we love them.
