I’m totally going to dig out the telescope from Penelope’s closet tomorrow night and find this. Leo is behind a tree in the (slightly darker) front yard but if I get down near the end of the driveway I should get a clear shot at it If all else fails I could try the backyard with the uneven ground and the illuminated parking lot behind, but that’s not my first choice, even though the sky is less obstructed in the direction of the constellation. Oh, to live out in the country…
Should be able to catch a glimpse of Saturn as well. Orion’s very prominent, and Aldebaran has been looking very red lately too, so it should be a fun night training the telescope on both of those areas, which are celetial gold mines for an amateur astronomer. Winters nights in the northern hemisphere are great for stargazing, especially bundled up on a cold, crisp night with a warm drink, stationed someplace with less light pollution, which really is the bane of my existence here in town. There’s so much to see. Will keep you posted.
