evening notes
1. Still working on the website. I might have to go back to Blogger, though, since they will let you post via FTP, something LJ (apparently) won’t do. It’s going to be a lot of work no matter how it’s done. At this point it’s looking like most of the transplanting’s going to have to be done by hand. 1200+ journal entries is a lot to move, but… I just want more control over the journal’s look and feel, not to mention having it under my own domain name, etc. Eventually I’ll probably install an actual blog application on my server, so that I can have control over everything, but we’re not quite there yet.
2. Today was one of those rare days at work where I accomplished literally everything on my to-do list. Everything that could be done was done. Project managers even approached me periodically with little rush jobs and I was able to knock those out. It was a good day.
3. Listened to a song earlier that contained the oft-used pop song lyric “It feels so right.” Now if that isn’t a nonsense statement, I don’t know what is. I don’t care if it’s “poetic” or some garbage like that. It’s on the same level as something like, “I feel like it’s the wrong thing to do.” No, you think it’s the wrong thing to do. The distinction between emotion and rational thought is blurred into meaninglessness in every arena these days. And frankly, there are few things more frightening to me than legions of people traversing the day making ethical decisions based mainly on how they feel. But sadly, the more I look around me the more I fear that’s where we are.
