eve eve

So much for my one-post-a-day resolution. Maybe this gap is a good thing, though–I think I was beginning to put an undue amount of pressure on myself to conjure up something post-worthy at the end of the day. Puttering around the internet for an hour or so at night until inspiration hits isn’t good for sleep habits. That said, it’s interesting to note that in my 7-8 years of online journaling, I never thought I could maintain a productive streak like I have for the past few weeks. I’d always viewed the impetus to write as something tenuous, wipsy, unable to be grasped and tamed… …unlike my day job, which requires me to be creative on demand 40 hours a week. Yeah, that’s not a double standard. Heh. In any case, the past couple of weeks put the final nail in the coffin of the notion that I have to wait for lightning to strike in order to write something reasonably worthwhile (or simply long and boring, depending on your view).

The ironic thing is that I have little desire to write tonight. Well, little desire to write about my life, that is. I could write volumes about my kids or my wife or any number of events, activities, goings-on happening peripherally, but my life? Forget it. I’m kind of gratified that this journal has never really been a hard record of my day-to-day, since that would probably bore most people to tears, whether now or in any number of years past.

Time for sleep.
