Happy new year! The party last night was large and uneventful, except for the fact that one of my roommates (John) got engaged earlier in the evening, to Kristi. People close to me have gotten engaged before, but it was surreal, to say the least, this time. I was thrilled for them… She was beaming; all the guys shook his hand as he knocked back a few beers. Good fun. He got her a huge diamond, too. Holy cow. I don’t know exactly how to describe my reaction to it, and I’ve been thinking about it since last night–I can’t quite pinpoint the feeling that I experience when I think about it. John and I are close…but we certainly don’t share everything with each other, although from this feeling you might think otherwise. Gosh, I don’t know. Why do I have to know, anyway? Because I like to have things figured out; that’s why.
