I’m learning to breathe
Learning to crawl
Learning that You and You alone can break my fall

Simple desires, grown out of a vast universe not of our own making. My heart reaches again, a perennial event of Sunday evenings. As my eyes scan the bookshelves at home, stocked full by a family of homeschooler packrats, I can’t but help linger on the volumes discussing the complexities of the universe, stars, planets, black holes, and various other phenomena. Why always this fascination with forces so vast the perspective of my mind has no boundaries to encompass them? Why tonight? My experiences at the beach touch a sliver of this captivation within me. The conceptual borderline between ocean and sky, so expansive, being swept over by winds that inhabit this sphere of my perception, feeling the breeze trickle over my skin, knowing that same breeze could range to the horizon–these sensations, underneath my all-pervasive sense of wonder, seep into the pores of my soul. And tonight, with the exertions of my heart, the subconscious peeks around the corner of the conscious, welling up again. Perhaps it’s a tacit rhythm within me, weekly, that brings these things back again; I don’t know. All I know is I am longing again, just longing, and the universe is my companion.
