About Us

Pen and MommyWe are the Suffern family: Diane, Matt, Luke and Penelope. We are unashamedly old-fashioned in our view of the family, unabashedly reformed and Christ-centered in our theology and unrelentingly aware of our constant dependence on His grace to accomplish anything at all.

Matt is a product designer with a local point-of-purchase display company, a job that makes good use of his creativity and which he finds fulfilling and challenging. When he's not shuttling Luke to soccer practice at the Y or toting Penelope around in the Baby Bjorn, he enjoys a good tome on philosophy, fantasy fiction or any literature even remotely related to airplanes. He is an avid runner, lapsed private pilot and incorrigible car mechanic.

Diane is the heart and soul of our little civilization. She is a phenomenal cook, fantastic interior decorator and passionate advocate of causes ranging from politics to theology to apologetics. She pours herself daily into the greater work of managing the home and raising Luke and Penelope. She is warmth and rest and peace and anchors our family. She enjoys scrapbooking, event planning and decorating.

Luke and DaddyLuke is our four-year-old child savant. He can truly be persuaded to be an enthusiast of anything and everything but some perennial favorites include the Solar System, anything to do with geography or anything to do with the outdoors, be it romping through the woods with his Granddad, throwing rocks in the pond with Grandpa or just going for a walk through the neighborhood with Daddy. He loves all kinds of fruits and candies but many times seems more interested in holding them than actually consuming them. He is smart and social and truly loves his mommy, daddy and sister.

Penelope is our newest addition, as of this writing not yet 8 months old. She is the definition of glee when we all crowd in her room to wish her good morning. Some of her favorite things include standing, chewing on Daddy's finger, rocking back and forth with Mommy and being fascinated by her brother and everything he can do. She is absolutely beautiful and we can't even remember our family without her.
