Minty Fresh
It feels good to post again, though I imagine not as much as my more prolific husband.
Luke and I got home about an hour ago from one of our usual, arduous shopping trips. I plopped him in his bed and am currently listening to the peaceful music of his whine through the thin walls of the house. Wood floors are beautiful but offer no insulation from complaining toddlers refusing to nap. At Costco earlier an elderly lady did the unthinkable and drew from her "bag-o-tricks" an orange tootsie roll pop and offered it to Luke/me in line. Goodness. What a scene. First off, really, do we now accept candy from strangers simply because they are nice old ladies? Actually, I did take it, but just to be kind to her. I put it in my bag to Luke's horror and he broke down in terrific sobs over the loss. It wasn't a fit; he was sincerely heartbroken. It made me sad so I picked him up and allowed him to think he was "helping" mommy push the cart to the car. He was satisfied.
I just finished cleaning the kitchen. Chances are good that the floor will need to be mopped again before guests arrive tonight. *sigh* I have a headache and feel like I have a bug. There is still so much cleaning to be done. I hate to say this, but, I prefer impromptu visits of friends and family versus the regular gathering of folks each week. There is a lot of pressure to have it quite tidy which, with a tornado of a two year old son, is virtually impossible with two hands. Whoever said it would be easy to run a household (me) was quite mistaken.
OK. Just taking this new blog-format for a test drive. Back to the laundry...
