It&#8217;s not that this place is foreign; it&#8217;s not, but the <i>love<\/i> that people feel for this place (if they can ever feel love for it as they know it), the <i>contentedness<\/i> that radiates from every sleepy-eyed neighborhood house as I jog past the front yard at 11:30&#8230;  That&#8217;s what&#8217;s alien to me.  And I envy them.  I really do.  Why the hell did I have to grow up overseas?  Why was I mostly alone during the last two and half years, leaving nothing to distract me from absorbing the sights, the tastes, the smells&#8230;?  I&#8217;m going crazy. By tiny increments.
