Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.<\/p>\n
I ran in the “Jingle Bell Jog” today, the university’s annual faculty\/staff run\/walk. I thought it was going to be a 5K, but instead the run was closer to 2.7 miles. I came in third overall with a time of 19:10, which equates to a 7:05 mile. Fast, you say? Well, thanks, but my pace for the 10K a month ago was almost identical for more than twice that distance, and I actually had a little bit of reserve left at the end of that race. This one, though… I don’t know what happened. I just never got in a rhythm, never hit my stride. My breathing was always disjointed, and my gait was laborious.<\/p>\n
*sigh*<\/p>\n
Time to really start digging in and pushing harder. I know I’m faster than that.<\/p>\n
In other news… really crackheaded weather patterns today. Last night thunder and lightning and rain sheeting against the side of the apartment woke me for a bit around 5 a.m. There were flashes outside every five seconds or so, nearby too. This morning and early afternoon, though, and during the run, it was the most beautiful day imaginable, cool and breezy. And just a few minutes ago rain and wind lashed the building again and the sky was dark grey. Feels for all the world like it did in central Germany when we were walking through downtown Wiesbaden and we waited out the shower underneath a tree.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
