He was remarkably chipper all day and had a great time at his grandparents house while Diane and I had our weekly date night.  During our drive to visit and retrieve him, we received a phone call and heard Luke singing his rainbow song quite clearly.  When we arrived, we all sang it together around the dinner table.  I was laughing and Diane was crying a little bit, it was so cute.  Luke was hesitant and looked around to make sure everybody in the room was singing, but didn&#8217;t display the recalcitrance he usually does when called upon to &#8220;perform.&#8221;  He takes very calculated &#8220;risks&#8221; in the arena of public performance and is still working out for himself when certain things are approved and when they aren&#8217;t.  Maybe it&#8217;s a firstborn thing?  I couldn&#8217;t help wondering if he had siblings to look to whether he wouldn&#8217;t be less gunshy.  I suppose we&#8217;ll find out when our second is born.  And besides, there are plenty of firstborns out there who are relatively fearless.
