Some fun links for the evening:
- Coverville, an enjoyable podcast I’m subscribed to, does a year-end countdown of their most popular/requested covers. There are quite a few, and the countdown is usually broken up between five individual podcasts. I’ll download a particular podcast if there’s a cover that piques my interest in the description. Jeff Buckley’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” always makes it into the top 10 or 15, but this year another cover of that song made it in: An a cappella version by a group called the Northwestern Freshman 15. It’s worth a listen for sure–it has some of the tightest harmonies I’ve ever heard. Very well done.
- Diane found this today. We couldn’t decide whether these guys have a death wish or are just really stupid. I settled on the theory that they just decided to do something that no one had really thought of before. In any case, it’s pretty exhilarating to watch.
